Jayden & Mik
MFB (Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade) LFF Mik Wilson is passionate about serving the community on and off shift and was determined to help a young boy in his local area living with a rare medical condition.
Ten year old Jayden lives with a condition called Congenital Myasthenia Syndrome. It is a debilitating condition that causes muscle weakness and fatigue following any type of physical exertion and there is no cure.
Through social media, Mik heard about Jayden's story and his dream to not only write a children book to raise awareness about his condition but also to become a firefighter one day.
Along with drawing illustrations for Jayden's book Mik also shared Jayden's story with the Firefighters Charity Fund and secured a $2000 grant for Jayden to put towards a service dog.
Jayden came down to Thomastown station and Mik and his crew pulled out all the stops to give Jayden a day he won't soon forget.
Well done Mik!
